Tuesday, February 10, we will be in Georgetown 05

It’s time to really get rolling with our decals. We’re going to start printing on decal paper with ceramic inks, so PLEASE read your handout on In-Glaze Decals – Making and Applying them. It’s also a good time to peruse the excerpt from the Complete Printmaker if you’re just getting re/acquainted with screenprinting.

Also, PLEASE bring your pins and tabs if you got ’em, packing tape, freezer paper, and exposure-ready films.

We’re going to be talking about some other commercial products and nonceramic applications.

* * * In the meantime, don’t miss Caos on F (that’s 923 F St NW) this Friday, opening (with sushi) from 6:30 to 8:30, featuring our own Chul Park! * * *

Tuesday, February 3, we will be in Georgetown 5.

Bring your images to class!

We will be printing with screenprinting inks this session, but it will be a good time to troubleshoot any images you’re thinking about making into decals.

It’s great that so many of you are already handy screenprinters. Since many of you will be ready to get started, please bring your exposure-ready images.

For those who are new to screenprinting or need a brush-up, no worries. Please bring some high-contrast images to play with–just keep in mind that screenprinting doesn’t “read” gray values well. You can draw or paint on mylar with india ink or get your images copied or printed on to transparencies at Kinko’s or the like if you aren’t set up to do so at home.

If you’ve got ’em, bring ’em:

Freezer paper, packing tape, registration tabs
